Here Bella is Modeling a charity bandana, in support of Havanese Rescue bandana

The bandana is a tribute to Hyacinth, a Havanese who made the ultimate sacrifice for the betterment of the breed. Hyacinth came to an untimely end while staying under the responsibility of a professional handler. Unfortunately, the professional handler has only spoken once to Hyacinth’s mom regarding the incident, so the last moments of Hyacinth’s life remain a mystery.

To make the bandana, I was able to track down a lovely fabric with colorful Hyacinth flowers. The flower side is kept close to the heart, as Hyacinth the Havanese will always remain near and dear to our hearts.

I think it is fitting the bandana also hides the hyacinth flowers from view, again symbolic of the lack of communication and closure with regard to Hyacinth’s tragic end.

I do wish people could understand the sacrifice show dogs make for the breed, traveling away from their family, sleeping and sitting in unfamiliar cages, and the long grooming sessions.

I do wish people would realize that all dogs are special, and not just a means to an end — be it fame, fortune or bragging points.

Let’s show our appreciation for their sacrifices, please join in the bidding.

Bidding starts March 7th. Join in the support!
